Esther Dyson

Swiss born Esther Dyson is President of EDventure Holdings, which focuses on information technology both world-wide and in the emerging computer markets of Central and Eastern Europe. The company publishes Release 1.0, an influential newsletter which is edited by Esther Dyson, and sponsors the annual PC Forum which attracts 600 leading players from the computer and communications industry.

A luminary in the technology industry and highly influential, Esther provides state-of-the-art knowledge of the business of computer and systems development while her insights into the future of the Internet provide great value for businesses trying to establish an electronic edge.

A member of the US National Information Infrastructure Advisory Council and a director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, she is active in industry affairs. She also co-chairs the NII AC’s Information Privacy and Intellectual Property sub-committee and runs the EFF’s Information Privacy sub-committee. Previously she had served as founding Chairman of ICANN.

In addition to running her own business, Esther Dyson sits on the board of the Global Business Network and the WPP Group. She is on the advisory board of Perot Systems and is a limited partner of the Mayfield Software Fund, as well as a consultant to many IT corporations. On the public service side, Esther sits on the boards and executive committees of the Santa Fe Institute and the Institute for East West Studies. She is a founding member of the Russian Software Market Association and a member of the US Software Publishers Association. She serves on advisory boards of the Software Entrepreneurs Forum in Silicon Valley and the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.

Her articles have been published in the Harvard Business Review, the New York Times, the New York Times Magazine and she also writes a monthly column for Computerworld. She appears frequently on CNN, CNBC, Wall Street Journal TV and the Network News.

Esther Dyson is a regular keynote speaker at major industry events in Europe, including the World Economic Forum in Davos. Fluent in Russian, she likes to combine a short, punchy keynote followed by a lengthy interactive session.
