Ralph Sina

Passionate journalist with a global career
Ralph Sina

Ralph Sina is a passionate journalist because nothing is more exciting than reality. He combines the most exciting news from politics, business and society with entertaining storytelling. He knows what moves our world, he knows the stories behind the stories and knows how to tell them.

After graduating in German & Philosophy in Münster, Sina, who was born in Oberhausen and grew up in Essen, joined WDR in Cologne as a reporter and editor. For which he is still working today.

After his time in Cologne, Sina was a political correspondent in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, Washington and Brussels. He knows the rules of the game of the Berlin and Bonn Republics, experienced the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide and Osama Bin Laden's terror in Central and East Africa. In Washington, he observed the hatred of Republicans for black U.S. President Barack Obama in the White House and the increasing division of the U.S., only to be confronted with the political consequences of the Greek crisis, the refugee crisis and Brexit, and the war in Ukraine as head of the Brussels studio.

Once a correspondent, always a correspondent. Politics, economics and society are still his great passions and so he continues to broadcast with joy and expertise. On WDR 4 on "Ralph Sina's Week", as a sought-after political expert on "Phoenix" or "Maischberger", with a pointed touch in WDR's Saturday column "Impuls", in his blog "Sina's World" and on his podcast "Damit uns nah geht, was uns angeht".

Sina has his finger on the pulse of the times, with great curiosity and good intuition, well researched, out of the sewing box and from the back rooms. Sina always stands for the whole story, for the most exciting from politics, economy and society of yesterday and today for tomorrow.

Sina likes to be in the thick of things instead of just there. He loves stories that make history. He knows who and what moves our world and tells about it as instructive as a BBC documentary and as entertaining as a blockbuster.

Sina's lectures are an exciting journey. You meet people who followed their ideals and those who betrayed them, people who put ideas into action, good and not so good. He tells stories about backers and women who take the lead, about regional and international, about the enlightened and the authoritarian, about truth and fake, about freedom and responsibility, about systems and institutions, about natural growth and artificial intelligence, about the fine art of diplomacy, about the seductive arts of power, about the destructive power of war and about the creative power of people.

He knows the best stories from the past and present for a good future. To this end, he explores the areas of tension between Father State, Mother Nature and free enterprise, illuminates what is desirable and what is feasible, talks about ethics and success, about thick boards and political "thin boards".

And always about people from whom we can learn, who stand in the middle of life without stopping. Everything is as entertaining as it is inspiring for everyone who wants to make a difference. For whom not everything was better in the past and not everything will be worse tomorrow.
