Prof. Dr. Stefan Rahmstorf
Leading Expert on Environment and Climate Change
Stefan Rahmstorf is recognised globally as a leading expert on the environment and climate change. He is Professor of Physics of the Oceans at Potsdam University and heads the Climate System Department at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. He is a member of the German Advisory Council on Global Change and forms part of the Advisory board on sustainable development for the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The Oceanographer and Climatologist holds a PhD in oceanography from Victoria University of Wellington (1990). His main area of work focuses on the role of ocean currents in climate change. In 1999 he was awarded the US$ 1 million Centennial Fellowship Award of the US-based James S. McDonnell foundation to assist his research projects and experiments.
